Hidden by Helen Frost

This novel in verse is a 2016 Rebecca Caudill nominee. Hazel was accidentally kidnapped as a child when the van she was hiding in was carjacked. She hid in the garage of her kidnapper until she could escape, without anyone in the house knowing… or so she thought. The daughter of the carjacker, Darra, knew. Years later, they unknowingly find each other at a summer camp and develop a friendship. The best part of the book was the hidden messages encrypted in the lines of poetry, telling another side of the same story.
